South Florida voters can cast ballots early starting Monday
Early voting is scheduled to open Monday at locations across Broward and Miami-Dade counties, with polls open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 1. The start of voting comes as Florida’s gubernatorial candidates make final efforts to reach voters.
DAVIE, Fla. — Early voting is set to begin Monday across Broward and Miami-Dade counties, giving voters a two-week window to cast ballots before Election Day.
Polling places will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 1. The Davie-Cooper City Branch Library is among dozens of early voting locations in Broward County, where campaign signs were already lining the parking lot ahead of voting.
More than 61,000 Broward County residents voted early in person during the August primary, according to state figures. Miami-Dade recorded more than 58,000 early in-person voters, while Monroe County had just over 4,000. Statewide, more than 818,000 Floridians voted in person before Election Day during the primary.
The opening of early voting gives campaigns another opportunity to mobilize supporters and reach undecided voters. Democratic gubernatorial nominee David Jolly visited a church in northwest Miami-Dade on Sunday morning. He described his political path as one of finding common ground, saying he had been a Republican, served in Congress and later became an independent before joining the Democratic Party. He said he considers himself “in a very post-partisan space, a post-ideological space.”
Republican gubernatorial nominee Byron Donalds said his campaign is focusing on direct voter outreach. Donalds said it had knocked on 1.2 million doors during the general-election campaign and expected to reach about 1.5 million or more by Election Day.
For voters, early voting offers a chance to participate outside the Election Day rush. Residents should check their county election office for location details before heading to the polls.
