Contreras’ three RBIs spark Brewers’ Game 2 comeback against Dodgers
MILWAUKEE — William Contreras drove in three runs, including the go-ahead hit, as the Brewers beat the Dodgers 7-4 on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. Los Angeles held a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the fifth before Contreras homered to center field and tied the score. In the sixth, his RBI single brought home David Hamilton and gave Milwaukee the lead for good. Contreras also singled home Brice Turang in the first inning. Christian Yelich’s two-out, two-run single in the third scored Turang and Hamilton, helping keep Milwaukee within reach before the Dodgers moved ahead. The Brewers added insurance in the eighth. Turang singled in Hamilton, then scored on Jake Bauers’ RBI single. Milwaukee’s bullpen shut down Los Angeles over the final five innings. Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby combined for seven strikeouts without allowing a hit. Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández drove in runs for the Dodgers, while Tommy Edman scored twice. The best-of-seven series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday, scheduled for 7 p.m. Milwaukee needs two more wins to reach the World Series; the Dodgers must win to keep the series going.
