Turang’s homer and bullpen lift Brewers over Dodgers in NLCS Game 1
MILWAUKEE — The Brewers opened the National League Championship Series with a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, turning a one-run deficit into a narrow lead and relying on four relievers to finish the job. Los Angeles scored first in the second inning on an RBI single by Andy Pages. Milwaukee starter Jacob Misiorowski allowed five hits and struck out five before the Brewers’ offense answered. Brice Turang tied the game with a solo home run in the fourth. Luis Lara put Milwaukee ahead in the fifth with an RBI single, providing the winning run in a game that continued the close-game pattern of the Brewers’ National League Division Series against San Diego. Milwaukee’s bullpen preserved the lead, with four pitchers combining to close out the victory. The result gives the Brewers a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 is scheduled for Monday in Milwaukee, with Logan Henderson set to start for the Brewers against the Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. Central time.
