Scooter rider seriously hurt in Woodstock crash; Portland police seek Hyundai driver
Police say a black Hyundai struck a man on a motorized scooter near Southeast 52nd Avenue and Woodstock Boulevard on Oct. 1, then left the scene. The rider was hospitalized with serious injuries, and investigators are asking witnesses to contact them.
Portland police are looking for the driver of a black Hyundai sedan after a collision that seriously injured a motorized-scooter rider in the Woodstock neighborhood earlier this month.
The crash happened about 1:55 p.m. Oct. 1, as the scooter rider traveled south on Southeast 52nd Avenue and turned into the left lane of Southeast Woodstock Boulevard, according to the Portland Police Bureau. Police say the Hyundai hit him from behind.
The driver, described by police as a white man in his 70s wearing cowboy-style clothing, got out of the car and yelled at the rider before driving west on Woodstock Boulevard, police said. The rider was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators believe the car is a black 2012-to-2014 Hyundai Genesis four-door sedan. The case remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information who has not already spoken with them to submit a tip to the bureau.
