Vancouver officers found a man and woman dead with gunshot wounds during a welfare check at an apartment near NE Neals Lane. Police are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide; the medical examiner is expected to identify the pair and determine their causes of death.
Vancouver police are investigating the deaths of a man and woman found with gunshot wounds inside an apartment in the city’s Fourth Plain Village neighborhood on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Officers went to an apartment complex near 2600 NE Neals Lane for a welfare check after a family member reported that the woman was missing, police said. She lived there with her boyfriend and had missed work that day, while family members had been unable to reach her.
Relatives and friends had gone to the apartment earlier and saw the woman’s car in the parking lot, but no one answered the door, according to police.
Officers entered the apartment and found both people dead. Police are investigating the incident as a possible murder-suicide. The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the pair’s identities and official causes of death, police said.
Authorities have not released the individuals’ names or further details about the circumstances. The investigation remains ongoing.
