Brewers fans compare $3,000 Milwaukee listings with cheaper World Series trip to Florida

Brewers fans compare $3,000 Milwaukee listings with cheaper World Series trip to Florida

MILWAUKEE — Some Brewers fans are heading to Florida for World Series games after finding that travel and tickets there could cost less than a resale ticket in Milwaukee.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the least expensive listing WISN found for Friday’s Game 1 at American Family Field was a standing-room-only ticket priced at $2,917 on SeatGeek. Tickets had sold out through MLB’s website. At Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, the cheapest ticket listed for Monday was $813, though prices had been lower before the Rays clinched.

Mike Sampson said he arranged a Florida trip that included a hotel stay and a game ticket for about $1,500, using points for his flight. He said the standing-room option in Milwaukee was around $3,000. Sampson bought a ticket to Game 4 at Tropicana Field before the Rays eliminated Cleveland.

Pewaukee residents Jennette Learned and David Galbraith, who spoke from Hawaii during their vacation, extended their travels to include St. Petersburg. Learned said their Florida game seats cost just under $400, and their total for tickets, two hotel nights and round-trip flights came to roughly $900, with travel rewards helping reduce the airfare.

Learned said she has been a Brewers fan since birth and was inspired by her mother, who attended the team’s 1982 World Series. Sampson said he was weighing whether to extend his stay if the series reached a potential deciding Game 5.

John Lamoreaux, owner of Milwaukee ticket seller Ticket King, said the gap reflects the Brewers’ more established fan base and broad following across Wisconsin. The resale figures are snapshots of listings, which can change as demand shifts; they are not face-value prices or guarantees of what fans ultimately pay.

For fans priced out of Milwaukee’s home opener, Florida offers a chance to see the team in person at a lower overall cost—if they can manage the travel and find comparable tickets.
