A Brewers fan’s $1,000 ticket bought him a seat at the World Series

Nate Holzman bought one of the Brewers’ limited “Timeless Tickets” 12 years ago, promising admission to a future game of his choice. Now, after Milwaukee reached the World Series, he plans to use it for Game 1 and bring his parents and a friend.

MILWAUKEE — Nate Holzman bought a Milwaukee Brewers “Timeless Ticket” 12 years ago, paying $1,000 for the promise of a seat at a future game of his choice. With the Brewers headed to the World Series, he plans to redeem it for Game 1.

Holzman, a lifelong fan originally from Oak Creek who now lives in Los Angeles, was among 1,000 people who purchased the embossed tickets. He decided to use his after attending Game 3 of the National League Championship Series in Los Angeles. The Brewers confirmed over the weekend that he would attend the World Series opener.

“The Brewers are going to the World Series, and I’m going to the World Series,” Holzman said. “Doesn’t get any better than that!”

The ticket also lets Holzman buy up to three additional terrace seats at face value, $1,000 apiece. He said he plans to bring his parents and a friend, and was glad to pay for their seats so they could share the game.

Holzman is a new father, and the milestone carries a family connection: His daughter is now the same age he was the last time Milwaukee appeared in the World Series. Before the Brewers’ postseason run, he said he had wondered whether he might need to transfer the ticket to her if he did not live to see the team return.

He planned to collect the tickets at the Will Call window at American Family Field on Friday, presenting identification and his confirmation. Holzman said the story of his long wait had reached old friends and spread across social media.
