Tamarac man charged after mother found dead; arrest report details 911 call

A Broward County arrest report says Manuel Farfan-Cabello told a 911 dispatcher he killed his mother, Ylda Cabello-Ynocente, in their Tamarac home. Family members told detectives he had previously been diagnosed with psychosis and schizophrenia, though the report says authorities had not verified that history through medical records.

Tamarac man charged after mother found dead; arrest report details 911 call
A 28-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found dead in their Tamarac home, according to a Broward County arrest report released Tuesday, Oct. 13. Manuel Farfan-Cabello called 911 and told a dispatcher he had killed his mother, 57-year-old Ylda Cabello-Ynocente, the report says. He allegedly said he stabbed her three to four hours earlier, had been high at the time and had thrown the knife into a lake. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the home on Oct. 9 after receiving a report of a homicide. The report says they directed Farfan-Cabello to come outside and arrested him. Inside, deputies found blood in the living room and kitchen. Cabello-Ynocente was pronounced dead. Investigators said Farfan-Cabello had gone to a neighbor’s home and rung its doorbell. Deputies later noticed what appeared to be a blood trail leading from that home back to his mother’s residence, according to the report. The report also says Farfan-Cabello contacted relatives in Peru, sent them a photograph of his mother and told them she was dead. An aunt told detectives he sent a message to the family group chat saying, in Spanish, that she was dead and asking forgiveness because God had told him to do it. The aunt said Farfan-Cabello had previously been diagnosed with psychosis and schizophrenia, and that relatives initially thought he might be hallucinating. The arrest report says investigators had not independently confirmed his reported mental health history with medical documentation. A preliminary examination found about 30 stab wounds on Cabello-Ynocente’s head, neck and other parts of her body, the report says. A judge denied Farfan-Cabello bond after his arrest. The family has said Farfan-Cabello is not a bad person and hopes he receives the help he needs. Relatives are seeking to return Cabello-Ynocente’s body to Peru.
