A 51-year-old man was arrested Monday after a 63-year-old woman told Hialeah police he sexually assaulted her following an earlier rideshare trip, according to an arrest report. Joe Luis Suarez faces a sexual battery charge in connection with an incident the woman reported in July. Police said he was booked into jail. Information about an attorney for Suarez was not available. The woman told investigators her daughter had arranged for Suarez to drive her to Boca Raton. During that trip, the two exchanged phone numbers for possible future rides, the report said. A few days later, Suarez called and asked whether he could pick her up for coffee because he was near her home, according to her account. She told police he drove her to Victor Wilde Park in Hialeah, where he stopped the car and began kissing her. The woman said she pushed him away, but he then grabbed her hand and forced it onto his genitals, the report said. The woman told investigators she got out of the car, but Suarez forced her into the back seat and sexually assaulted her before driving her home, according to the report. The allegations have not been tested in court. An arrest and criminal charge do not establish guilt.
