Tallahassee shooting near FAMU homecoming crowd injures 12, including six children

At least 12 people, including six children, were injured in a shooting Saturday near a football stadium in Tallahassee, authorities said. The shooting occurred in a crowded area after a football game during Florida A&M University’s homecoming weekend.

Eleven people suffered gunshot wounds, and at least three victims were seriously injured, according to Tallahassee police. Police Chief Lawrence Revell said no arrests had been made.

A preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out before the shooting, police said. The department did not provide further details about what led to the fight or identify a suspect.

Florida A&M said the shooting happened near campus and that the university remained safe. The incident unfolded during a major homecoming gathering, when students, alumni and visitors were in Tallahassee for the university’s annual celebration.
