Boulder police seek more possible victims after former Mesa Elementary employee’s arrest
A 34-year-old Boulder man and former Boulder Valley School District employee was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, after a months-long investigation into alleged stalking and other crimes, Boulder police said. David Wise surrendered at the Boulder County Jail and was booked on 10 counts of invasion of privacy for sexual gratification, two felony stalking counts, one felony count of sexual exploitation of a child and one felony count of second-degree burglary. The allegations stem from suspected crimes at several downtown Boulder locations between February 2024 and August 2026. Police said a recent tip helped detectives identify a possible suspect and led to new photographs and other evidence. Several people allegedly did not know they had been watched until police contacted them. Investigators said a search of Wise’s electronic devices also turned up material they suspect is child sexual abuse material downloaded online. Wise previously worked at Mesa Elementary as a SAC supervisor. The school’s principal, Josh Baldner, told families that Wise had worked for the district since Oct. 23, 2024, and was placed on leave Aug. 25 after the school learned of the investigation. His employment was terminated after the charges were announced. The district and school cooperated with law enforcement, Baldner said in a letter to families. He said Mesa counselors would be available to meet with students, and encouraged families to contact the school if a student needed support. Detectives have no information indicating whether any students were victims, police said. Investigators are working with the district and the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, and additional charges remain possible. Police believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact Boulder Police Detective J. Brown at 303-413-7330 or BrownJ1@bouldercolorado.gov, referencing case 2604656. The charges are allegations; Wise has not been convicted.
