A Denver man accused of killing his wife in their home in 2012 has been arrested in Mexico and is awaiting extradition to Colorado, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said Oct. 9. Pedro Rios-Lopez has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Berta Rio-Lopez, prosecutors said. They allege he stabbed her inside their home on South Bryant Street. Berta Rio-Lopez was found dead at the residence on April 28, 2012. Police suspected foul play at the time. Neighbors said then that she had two daughters, who would be about 24 and 26 years old in 2026. The district attorney’s office announced the arrest in a social media post. No further details about the arrest or extradition process were provided in the announcement.
