Ohio State heads to Bloomington ranked fourth in AP poll, fifth by coaches
The Buckeyes moved up one place in both major weekly polls after beating Maryland 45-16 at home. Their next game is a noon kickoff Oct. 17 at Indiana.
Ohio State climbed to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 and No. 5 in the coaches poll after a 45-16 homecoming win over Maryland on Saturday.
The Buckeyes rose one spot in each ranking released Sunday. Texas, the only team to beat Ohio State this season, fell from No. 1 to No. 7 after losing to previously unranked Oklahoma. That reshuffled the top of the AP poll, with Georgia at No. 1, Notre Dame at No. 2 and Miami at No. 3. Indiana moved to No. 5, one place behind Ohio State.
In the coaches poll, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami and Indiana occupied the four places ahead of Ohio State. The weekly poll draws on a randomly selected panel of head coaches at recognized colleges.
The Buckeyes travel to Bloomington next to face Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for noon. The matchup gives Ohio State an immediate opportunity to test its standing against a fellow top-five team.
