Dream shift two WNBA Finals games to larger downtown Atlanta arena
Atlanta will host Games 3 and 4 of its WNBA Finals series against the Golden State Valkyries at State Farm Arena, which seats far more fans than the team’s usual home court. Game 3 was moved up a day to avoid a scheduling conflict with a concert.
The Atlanta Dream will play two home games in the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena, giving more fans the chance to watch the team’s first championship series since 2013.
The Dream and the Atlanta Hawks announced Tuesday that Game 3 against the Golden State Valkyries will be played Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m.
Game 3 had originally been set for Oct. 22, but the league moved it up a day because of a Sombr concert at the venue. The switch followed coordination among the Dream, Valkyries, Hawks, NBA, WNBA and broadcast partners, the Dream said.
The change also brings the Finals to a much larger arena. Gateway Center Arena, where the Dream play their home games, holds about 3,500 people; State Farm Arena has capacity for 17,000.
Tickets for the Atlanta games are scheduled to go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. The Finals open Saturday, Oct. 17, at Chase Center in San Francisco. Atlanta has not won a WNBA championship.
The Dream announced last week that State Farm Arena will host all of the team’s home games in 2027.
