A staff member at Loganville Christian Academy in Loganville has been charged with grooming a minor, according to Walton County Sheriff’s Office records.
The employee, identified in the records as Katie Elizabeth McDevitt, was placed on administrative leave after the school was notified of the sheriff’s office investigation on or around Sept. 24, the academy said in a statement to its community. The school said the minor involved was not an LCA student and that it was not aware of allegations involving any of its students.
LCA said school leaders have communicated with law enforcement and are monitoring the investigation. The academy described child safety as its foremost responsibility and said it aims to keep families informed while protecting the privacy of those involved and the investigation.
The sheriff’s office provided no further details about the case. The nature of McDevitt’s connection to the alleged victim was not clear. Court records show she is expected to appear for a hearing in mid-November.
The charge is an allegation; the available information does not establish guilt.
