One student dead, another hurt in accidental shooting at Atlanta Technical College
Atlanta police say a gun discharged in a classroom Monday, wounding one student. The student who had the firearm was later found dead in a campus bathroom from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
One student was killed and another injured in a shooting at Atlanta Technical College on Monday, Oct. 19, Atlanta police said. Investigators’ preliminary account is that the firearm discharged accidentally in a classroom, striking the second student in the leg.
Police responding to the campus found the student who had the gun dead in a school bathroom. Authorities said the death appeared to result from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The injured student was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was alert, conscious and breathing, according to police.
Police have not released the students’ identities. The investigation is ongoing.
