Cherokee County jury convicts Harold Duvall in child-abuse case
WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Harold William Duvall, 71, was convicted of aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and first-degree cruelty to children following a four-day trial in Cherokee County, prosecutors said Tuesday, Oct. 6. The investigation began in June 2024, when a mother told Woodstock police that her teenage child had disclosed abuse by Duvall. During a forensic interview, the child said Duvall had made him engage in a sex act when he was 5, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office. At trial, prosecutors also presented evidence involving three other children and abuse dating as far back as 1981. Witnesses included the child connected to the 2024 investigation, family members, people involved in other cases and experts on child abuse dynamics, the DA’s office said. Jurors deliberated for about an hour before returning guilty verdicts. Sentencing has not been scheduled.
