Atlanta police investigate fatal shooting on Head Road; two men found dead
A man was found shot at a southwest Atlanta address Tuesday night, and officers later found a suspected shooter dead nearby. Police say the incident appears isolated as homicide investigators work to establish what happened.
Two men were found dead after a shooting Tuesday night on Head Road in southwest Atlanta, according to Atlanta police, who said one man is believed to have shot himself.
Officers were dispatched around 8:14 p.m. Oct. 6 to 2705 Head Road SW after a report that someone had been shot. They found an adult man with apparent gunshot injuries, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.
Officers searching a nearby wooded area then found the suspected shooter, who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also pronounced dead, police said.
The department said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no threat to the community. Homicide Unit investigators are examining what led to the shooting. Police have not released the victim’s identity or further details about the circumstances, and said the investigation remains active. The information available is preliminary and could change.
