Man dies in early-morning collision on Ballard’s 15th Avenue Northwest
A man died early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on 15th Avenue Northwest in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, police said. The collision was reported around 4 a.m. A driver traveling north called 911 to say he had hit a pedestrian in the road. Seattle Fire Department medics found the man dead in the northbound lanes, just north of Northwest 51st Street. A witness told police the pedestrian had been walking north on the sidewalk and behaving erratically before entering the roadway, according to police. The 54-year-old driver pulled over, called for help and remained at the scene, police said. A drug recognition expert evaluated the driver and did not suspect impairment. Detectives from the Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are investigating. Police have not released the pedestrian’s identity or announced any charges.
