Two men wounded in overnight gunfire at Seattle’s Kerry Park; juvenile arrested
Seattle police say a juvenile was arrested after officers found about 50 rifle and handgun casings at Kerry Park. Two men later arrived separately at Harborview Medical Center with gunshot wounds; both were reported in satisfactory condition.
Two men were wounded in a shooting at Seattle’s Kerry Park early Saturday, and police arrested a juvenile on assault charges, authorities said.
Officers were called to the Queen Anne park around 3:30 a.m. after multiple reports of gunfire. Police said they contacted a vehicle at the scene and detained everyone inside after seeing a rifle and other evidence. Investigators recovered about 50 rifle and handgun shell casings.
While officers were investigating, two adult men who had left the scene arrived separately at Harborview Medical Center. One had been shot in the leg and the other in the hip. Both were in satisfactory condition, the hospital said Saturday.
Residents near the park told local reporters that security-camera footage captured gunfire at about 3:29 a.m. and cars leaving afterward.
The juvenile was booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. Seattle police detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit interviewed witnesses and processed evidence. Police seized the vehicle and said they planned to seek a search warrant as the investigation continued.
