Three children safe after Morgan Hill homicide; husband arrested
A 37-year-old Morgan Hill man was arrested Saturday after police say he killed his wife at their home and drove her to Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. Roy Anthony Lopez arrived at the hospital with his wife in the passenger seat, according to Morgan Hill police. He told hospital staff he had killed her. Paramedics tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead in the car in the hospital parking lot. San Jose police detained Lopez and contacted Morgan Hill police. Investigators determined the killing happened at a home near Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill and said they found evidence of a homicide inside the residence. Police said a firearm was not used. The victim’s identity had not been released as of Monday, pending notification of her family, and authorities had not publicly disclosed a cause of death or motive. The couple’s children, ages 14, 6 and 3, were inside the home at the time, police said. They are now in safe custody. Investigators have not said whether the children witnessed the killing. The case brought a heavy police presence to the neighborhood for several hours Saturday. Neighbor Pranhleen Bariana said the news was heartbreaking and expressed sympathy for the family. Morgan Hill police said they are continuing to investigate and prepare the case for prosecutors. Anyone with information can contact Sgt. Sean Bayard at 408-607-3032 or sean.bayard@morganhill.ca.gov.
