Rhode Island Breakers set for spring UFL debut after Pawtucket reveal
Rhode Island’s new United Football League team introduced itself as the Breakers at a Sunday launch event at Centreville Bank Stadium. The team’s roster is still coming together ahead of the UFL Draft on Nov. 17.
PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Rhode Island’s new United Football League team will take the field this spring as the Rhode Island Breakers, the club announced Sunday at Centreville Bank Stadium.
The team also unveiled a lighthouse-inspired logo, described as a symbol of “resolute energy and community pride.” Its official colors are Riptide Blue, Nor’easter Navy, Beacon Yellow and Whitecap.
The Breakers will be the UFL’s only team in the Northeast, joining a league with eight active teams. The UFL began play in 2024 after the XFL and USFL merged.
Head coach A.J. McCarron said he is eager to build the new team with local fans. McCarron, a three-time BCS national champion quarterback at Alabama, has also played in the NFL, XFL and UFL.
“I’m excited to build something from scratch with this fan base and this community for everybody to be part of it, be proud of it and build something special together,” McCarron said.
The roster is still taking shape. The next major step is the UFL Draft, scheduled for Nov. 17 in St. Louis.
