Phoenix firefighters were called to the home around 9:45 p.m. for a reported drowning. They found the boy unconscious and not breathing after family members had pulled him from the water. The family said they did not know how long he had been underwater, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. Firefighters performed life-saving measures and took the child to a hospital in critical condition. He later died there. Preliminary information indicated there was no pool fence at the home, authorities said. Officials have not released further details about the circumstances of the incident.
