His father, Mark Ulrich, said on social media that Tyler died at 11:13 a.m. Thursday. He remembered his son as someone whose life was marked by faith and passion, and who played football with intensity.

Southern Nazarene said the loss is being felt across campus and expressed sympathy for Ulrich’s family, friends and teammates. The university said students, faculty and staff can seek help through its Renew Counseling Center and campus pastors.

A fundraising page has been established to support Ulrich’s family. Funeral service announcements are pending.
