AUSL players seek union recognition ahead of possible 2027 bargaining
Athletes Unlimited Softball League players announced plans to unionize and asked the league to recognize their union voluntarily. The move comes after the AUSL’s first season with six markets and ahead of a potential collective bargaining agreement for 2027.
Athletes Unlimited Softball League players announced plans to unionize and have asked the league to voluntarily recognize their union ahead of a potential collective bargaining agreement for the 2027 season.
The players announced the move Oct. 14, after the AUSL completed its second season this summer. The 2026 season was the league’s first with six markets, including expansion teams OKC Spark and Portland Cascade.
Voluntary recognition would allow the players’ union and the league to move toward bargaining over a potential agreement. The announcement comes as the AUSL continues to expand its footprint in professional softball.
