Antioch quarterback Andre Adams nears Tennessee career-yardage mark before knee injury
Colorado commit Andre Adams entered Antioch’s Oct. 23 game against Clarksville needing 360 yards to break Tennessee’s high school career total-yardage record. He came within 50 yards of the mark before his knee buckled.
Antioch senior quarterback Andre Adams came close to making Tennessee high school football history during the Bears’ game against Clarksville on Oct. 23, but his pursuit was interrupted when his knee buckled.
Adams began the game with 12,353 career all-purpose yards. He needed 360 more to pass the TSSAA record of 12,713, set by Kyle Akin of Jackson Trinity Christian from 2011 to 2014. During the game, Adams moved to within 50 yards of that total before his knee gave way.
Adams, who has committed to play football at the University of Colorado, entered his senior season among the state’s most productive players. The record is based on total yards accumulated over a high school career, combining offensive production rather than measuring passing yards alone.
The available details do not establish whether Adams returned to the game or whether he ultimately reached the record. His near-milestone performance nevertheless put Antioch’s senior quarterback within sight of a mark that had stood since Akin’s career ended in 2014.
