Titans cut Jordan Elliott after practice dispute and parking-lot gun incident
Tennessee coach Robert Saleh confirmed that defensive lineman Jordan Elliott pulled a gun in the team-facility parking lot after an Oct. 15 altercation with tackle JC Latham. The Titans released Elliott after reviewing the incident; Saleh defended his character and said he belongs on an NFL roster.
The Tennessee Titans released defensive lineman Jordan Elliott after an altercation with offensive tackle JC Latham at practice led to a gun incident in the team-facility parking lot, coach Robert Saleh confirmed Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Saleh told reporters Elliott pulled a gun in the parking lot. The incident happened Thursday, Oct. 15, according to the team, which said it reviewed the matter before deciding to release him. The Titans’ initial statement did not describe what happened beyond saying there had been an incident involving Elliott at the facility.
“The first question that everyone forgets to ask is ‘why?’” Saleh said, while defending Elliott’s character. The coach described him as a father and husband and said he had never committed a crime. Saleh also urged teams looking for a defensive lineman to consider Elliott, saying he “should be on an NFL roster.”
Elliott was inactive for Tennessee’s game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Oct. 18, before the team announced his release Tuesday. The details of the altercation and what led to the gun being pulled were not provided in the team’s statement or Saleh’s remarks quoted Wednesday.
