TriStar Centennial plans pediatric ER expansion and NICU upgrades in Nashville

TriStar Centennial Medical Center announced Oct. 19 that it will invest $90 million to expand and renovate its women’s and children’s hospitals in Nashville, with work expected to continue through 2028.

The project will add five treatment rooms to the pediatric emergency department and a CT imaging suite. It also includes modernization of the neonatal intensive care unit and upgrades to patient rooms intended to make them more welcoming for families.

The investment follows an expansion of pediatric specialty staff over the past year. The hospital says it has added physicians in cardiology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, plastic surgery, oncology and general surgery to serve children across Middle Tennessee.

“As Middle Tennessee continues to grow, we are making a significant investment in the future of healthcare for women and children,” said Tom Ozburn, TriStar Centennial Medical Center’s chief executive officer. He said the project is intended to bring together specialized teams, technology and redesigned spaces for patients ranging from newborns to children with complex medical needs.

The hospital has not announced a more detailed construction schedule. Ozburn described the work as a multiyear effort to expand pediatric specialty care and improve the experience for patients and families.
