Nashville father identifies brothers shot at Madison apartment complex
A 22-year-old man was killed and his 14-year-old brother remains in critical condition after gunmen opened fire in a Madison apartment parking lot. Their father said the brothers were making DoorDash deliveries when they were attacked.
A 22-year-old man was killed and his 14-year-old brother was critically wounded in a shooting at Birchstone Village Apartments in Madison on Thursday night, Oct. 15, according to their father and Nashville police. The brothers were making DoorDash deliveries, their father said.
Juan Díaz identified the victims as Jhon and Alan. He said Jhon had delivered for DoorDash for more than a year and had gone out with Alan to make deliveries after the family ate dinner.
The brothers usually worked for two or three hours and returned home safely, Díaz said. They had never told him they felt threatened.
Police said the brothers arrived at the complex in a black Infiniti sedan. One man approached the car and began shooting, followed by two others; one of them also fired, police said. Jhon tried to drive away but backed into a fence. The three suspects then fled.
Alan was shot in the head and remained in critical condition, his father said. Díaz said a police officer came to the family’s home shortly after the shooting and initially told him his sons had been in an accident. Learning that Jhon had died left him devastated, he said.
Metro Nashville police said Friday that detectives were pursuing strong leads as they searched for the three suspects. No arrests were reported in the update.
