Priced-out Brewers supporters find a view of the World Series from American Family Field windows

Fans without tickets gathered at American Family Field to watch the Brewers’ World Series games through stadium windows, with more people spotted during Game 2. The unusual viewing spot offered a chance to see the action as ticket prices climbed to levels a Milwaukee broker said rival those in baseball’s biggest markets.

MILWAUKEE — Brewers fans who could not get into American Family Field found another way to follow the team’s World Series run: watching from outside the stadium through its windows.

Fans gathered along the windows during Game 1, with some saying the view made it seem as though they were looking down from the second level. When observers returned during Game 2, they found a larger group, though some faces had changed.

One fan said they had been walking around the stadium when they noticed an opening in a window and stopped to watch, calling the chance a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The window-side crowd came as fans faced steep prices for World Series tickets. People trying to buy seats online and in person on Thursday encountered high costs; many of those who lined up at the stadium still bought tickets.

John Lamoreaux of Milwaukee ticket broker Ticket King said prices were among the highest he had seen in most markets, comparable to World Series ticket costs when teams such as the Yankees, Red Sox or Cubs are playing.

For fans unable or unwilling to pay those prices, the stadium windows offered a nearby, if unconventional, way to share in the championship atmosphere.
