Milwaukee gives Logan Henderson another October start in World Series Game 2
The 24-year-old right-hander will start for the Brewers against Tampa Bay after winning Game 2 starts in both the NLDS and NLCS. Henderson had an 11-3 record and 2.47 ERA in the regular season.
The Milwaukee Brewers will start rookie right-hander Logan Henderson in Game 2 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, giving the 24-year-old another high-stakes assignment after two successful postseason starts.
Henderson opened Game 2 of both the National League Division Series against San Diego and the NL Championship Series against Los Angeles. He allowed two runs, one earned, in five innings against the Padres in a 4-3 Brewers win. Against the Dodgers, he gave up four runs, two earned, over four innings as Milwaukee won 7-4.
The Brewers selected Henderson in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. He entered the season ranked as the organization’s No. 6 prospect by Baseball America, then went 11-3 with a 2.47 ERA in 18 regular-season starts. Milwaukee won 14 of those 18 games.
Henderson held opponents to a .183 batting average and posted a 0.84 WHIP, with 110 strikeouts and 19 walks in 98⅓ innings. He has not faced Tampa Bay before.
Through his first 23 career starts, Henderson is 14-3 with a 2.33 ERA and has allowed no more than three runs in any of them. He and Zac Gallen are the only major-league pitchers since 1893 to meet that mark across their first 23 starts, excluding openers and pitchers who also appeared in relief.
Henderson is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two career postseason starts; Milwaukee won both games.
