Milwaukee supporters head to Florida as World Series ticket prices vary widely
Brewers fans are flying to Tampa Bay after Saturday’s World Series win, with some reporting lower ticket costs than in Milwaukee. Prices ranged from about $400 to $2,000 per seat among fans interviewed, depending on when they bought.
MILWAUKEE — Brewers fans began heading to Tampa Bay on Sunday to follow the team’s World Series run, with some finding that tickets for games on the road cost less than seats in Milwaukee.
Kyle Silver said he and other fans left American Family Field after Saturday night’s win and flew out of Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport the next morning. Silver bought tickets for games in both cities and said his Tampa Bay seats cost about $2,000 each, compared with roughly $3,000 to $4,000 for Milwaukee games.
Silver said he has family in Florida, so he does not need to pay for a hotel. He estimated that even with lodging, the trip could still cost less than attending games at home.
Brady and Barb DeMotto are traveling to Tampa Bay for Game 4. Barb DeMotto said they paid a little more than $400 per ticket after purchasing them about 10 days ahead of the game. She cautioned that prices had shifted and said they were monitoring costs in case they decide to stay for Game 5.
Silver has made backup plans for later games, booking 16 refundable flights to account for different possible outcomes. He said some were intended for a return from Tampa Bay if the series reaches Games 6 or 7, and he hopes to cancel several if Milwaukee finishes the series sooner.
Silver said he and his father have followed the Brewers throughout the postseason. The close games, he said, have been stressful, but the team’s resilience has made the run memorable. Barb DeMotto offered the fans’ hope for the trip: “Good luck, guys. You know, bring it home.”
