Edgerrin Cooper’s Achilles injury adds to Packers’ concerns after Tampa Bay win
Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper has a torn Achilles, tests confirmed, according to sources cited by ESPN on Monday. Cooper was injured in the third quarter of Green Bay’s 17-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The apparent non-contact injury affected his left leg. Team medical staff attended to him on the field before he was carted to the locker room, and the Packers ruled him out with an Achilles injury. Before leaving the game, Cooper made a key play for Green Bay. He intercepted a pass with just over 30 seconds remaining in the first half, helping set up a field goal as time expired. The kick gave the Packers a 10-7 halftime lead. Cooper had been cleared from concussion protocol Saturday, after the Packers’ Sept. 24 game against the Atlanta Falcons. The confirmed Achilles tear is another setback for Green Bay after a win that included multiple injuries.
