Brewers-Padres playoff opener expected to pack Milwaukee bars and shuttle lines
Kelly’s Bleachers expects more than double its usual crowd for the Brewers’ NLDS opener and has stocked roughly 100 kegs. Jack’s American Pub is adding staff and beer as neighborhood businesses prepare for a busy postseason weekend.
MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee bars are preparing for a postseason rush as the Brewers open their National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres on Saturday at American Family Field.
Kelly’s Bleachers on Bluemound Road expects more than twice its typical customer count, manager Rachel Chaparas said. The bar began planning weeks in advance and has about 100 kegs on hand — roughly three to four times its usual regular-season stock. It also expects to shuttle between 750 and 1,000 fans to the stadium.
“If you find an open spot, just put your butt in it because someone will come right to it,” Chaparas said.
The bar has stocked extra liquor and canned drinks for shuttle riders, with its supply of cans expected to run out by the end of the weekend, she said.
Jack’s American Pub on Brady Street is also staffing up and adding beer on tap. Owner Rob Jones Jr. said the pub will run shuttles earlier if crowds build.
The postseason brings a significant boost to businesses around Milwaukee. Visit Milwaukee reported that each game during the Brewers’ 2025 NLDS run against the Cubs generated more than $5 million in economic impact.
Jones described the anticipation before a game as a mix of nerves and excitement, followed by fans becoming fully absorbed once play begins.
