South Florida flood warning coincides with Monday’s highest tides and gusty winds

A coastal flood warning and wind advisory are in effect across South Florida as king tides, rain and gusty winds raise the risk of flooding and difficult travel on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.

The king tides, driven by a full moon, are forecast to cause moderate to major coastal flooding. Winds could gust up to 40 mph; gusts were already nearing 30 mph Monday morning, as rough surf and high water covered much of the shoreline.

High tide in Miami is forecast for 9:19 a.m. and 9:24 p.m. Fort Lauderdale’s high tides are expected at 9:33 a.m. and 9:40 p.m. In Key West, high tide is forecast for 11:05 a.m. and 10:23 p.m.

Rain had already soaked the region, with showers moving into parts of Miami-Dade County and nearby areas. Scattered showers are expected to continue Monday and Tuesday, and a South Florida weather alert for flooding remains in effect through Tuesday, Oct. 27.

“Give yourself extra time since some of the roads are slick,” meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said. She also cautioned that conditions would be blustery and advised people to hold on to their umbrellas.
