Miami police seek leads after dog found submerged at Coconut Grove boat ramp
MIAMI — Miami police are investigating after a dog was found submerged at a boat ramp in Coconut Grove, where video shared online appeared to show the animal tied to cinder blocks. The person who posted the video also claimed the dog was attached to a nearby sunken boat. Police have not confirmed that account, said how the dog died, or disclosed how long it may have been in the water. Miami police said they are following leads to identify whoever may be responsible. City crews removed the dog from the dock; rope and cinder blocks seen in the video remained at the scene, according to local reporting. Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo said he contacted police after seeing the images. He called the apparent act “incredibly cruel and inhumane” and said investigators should work quickly to establish what happened and pursue any case under the law. No suspect or owner has been publicly identified. The circumstances surrounding the dog’s death remain under investigation.
