Families seek answers in Hialeah killings, offer $15,000 reward
Relatives of Kevin Ramirez, 18, and Christian Contreras, 20, are offering $15,000 for information leading to an arrest in their 2025 killings. The young men were found shot to death in a Hialeah apartment days before they planned to travel to Colombia.
The families of two young men killed in a Hialeah apartment are offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, as police continue investigating the case more than a year later.
Hialeah police said officers went to the Atlantico at Aquabella apartment complex near West 35th Way on July 29, 2025, after receiving reports that two people had been found dead. Kevin Ramirez, 18, and Christian Contreras, 20, had both suffered gunshot wounds, police said.
The men were scheduled to travel to Colombia two days after they were found. Their friend Brian Leon had planned to go with them.
“Cris and Kevin were amazing, bro, they were the brothers that I just couldn’t ask for anymore. God just placed them in my life,” Leon said.
Ramirez and Contreras had both become up-and-coming barbers after entering the profession only a few years earlier. Leon said Contreras had become one of the most successful barbers his age in Miami, and Ramirez was following a similar path.
The families’ reward is for information leading to an arrest. Police have described the investigation as active; no suspect or arrest was identified in the information available about the case.
