MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin’s offense turned an uneven opening into one of the most productive afternoons in program history Saturday, rolling past Eastern Michigan 54-10 at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers fell behind early and then watched junior quarterback Colton Joseph throw an interception on Wisconsin’s next possession. The response was emphatic: Wisconsin scored 41 consecutive points and secured its second straight home victory. Joseph said teammates helped him move past the mistake rather than allowing it to shape the game. “Guys were hyping me up,” Joseph said. “One play doesn’t tell the whole story.” He quickly backed up that message. Joseph threw for 302 yards in the first half, setting a Wisconsin record for passing yards before halftime. He finished with 362 total yards, tying for the seventh-highest single-game total by a quarterback in Badgers history. Coach Luke Fickell credited Joseph for recovering mentally, while cautioning that Wisconsin will face a much more demanding test once Big Ten play begins. Fickell also emphasized the importance of developing the conditioning and physical readiness needed to make plays against stronger conference opponents. The Badgers entered the game seeking a reset after an uneven start to the season. They now carry a 2-1 record into their conference opener, a road matchup against No. 13 Penn State at Happy Valley. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday.
