CANTON, N.Y. — The Wisconsin women’s hockey team beat St. Lawrence 6-0 on Saturday, moving to 2-0 as the defending national champions begin their bid for a third straight title. The Badgers were playing their second game against the Saints in New York before returning to Madison to raise their championship banner. Wisconsin also won the teams’ previous-day matchup. Maggie Scannell opened the scoring after Adéla Šapovalivová’s shot on a 3-on-2 rush rebounded to her. Scannell scored twice in the game. Wisconsin added to its lead in the second period when Maddie Kimbrel set up Haley Box with a no-look pass in the slot. Box finished with a one-timer for her first goal as a Badger. Captain Laila Gorbatenko also scored twice as Wisconsin pulled away. The shutout kept Wisconsin unbeaten through its first two games of the season.
