Wisconsin rallied from a 17-0 hole in University Park, scoring 24 unanswered points to hand Penn State its first loss of the season. A 72-yard touchdown pass from Colton Joseph to Jacob Harris gave the Badgers the lead late.
Wisconsin turned a 17-point deficit into a 24-20 win over No. 13 Penn State on Saturday in University Park, earning the Badgers’ first road victory over a top-15 opponent since 2019.
Penn State led 17-0 before Wisconsin quarterback Colton Joseph ran for a 7-yard touchdown near the end of the first half. The Badgers then shut down the Nittany Lions’ offense, allowing just three points the rest of the way, despite Joseph throwing two interceptions.
Early in the third quarter, Wisconsin defensive lineman Charles Perkins intercepted Penn State quarterback Rocco Becht on a tipped pass. Gavin Lahm followed with a 34-yard field goal, cutting the deficit to 17-10.
Wisconsin drew closer with a late touchdown pass from Joseph to Eugene Hilton Jr., making it 20-17. After the Badgers’ defense forced a Penn State punt, Joseph found Jacob Harris for a 72-yard touchdown that put Wisconsin ahead for the first time.
Penn State could not respond in the final minute. The loss was the Nittany Lions’ first of the season, while Wisconsin secured its first win on the road against a top-15 opponent since beating No. 8 Minnesota in 2019.
The Badgers are scheduled to host Michigan State in Madison next Saturday at 11:30 a.m. for homecoming weekend.
