Toddler dies after SUV strikes him in Watterstown Township driveway
A 3-year-old boy died Saturday after being struck by an SUV in the driveway of a home in Watterstown Township, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies received a report of the incident shortly after 3:30 p.m. The initial investigation indicates the boy ran toward the vehicle as his mother, Melinda Brown, 38, of Boscobel, returned home. Brown told him to move so she could park, authorities said. The child ran toward the house, then turned back toward the SUV. Brown did not see him, and the vehicle’s front tire struck him, according to investigators. Another child was at the scene and was moving toys out of the driveway, the sheriff’s office said. The boy was taken to a hospital in Boscobel, where he died from his injuries. Authorities have not publicly identified him beyond his initials, G. Brown. The investigation is continuing. The sheriff’s office said its initial findings indicate the death was accidental.
