Sun Prairie burglary investigation prompts request for neighborhood video
Police say two people entered a home in the 700 block of Derby Drive early Monday while residents were sleeping and took belongings. Investigators are asking nearby residents to check security footage and report missing property as they look into whether other homes were targeted.
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Sun Prairie police are investigating an early Monday burglary in which two suspects allegedly entered a home while residents were asleep and stole belongings. No one was injured, police said.
The break-in happened in the 700 block of Derby Drive. Home surveillance footage showed one suspect carrying what appeared to be a gun, according to police. The two suspects ran from the home after the burglary.
Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood with drones and K-9 teams. Investigators found a garage-door opener inside the home that did not belong to the residents and are checking whether other homes were burglarized.
Police Chief Kevin Warych urged people on Derby Drive, Katherine Drive and Carriage Drive to look for missing belongings and review home-security footage from early Monday. He said investigators are actively following leads and want residents in the surrounding area to know the case is being pursued.
