MADISON, Wis. — Moisture moving into southern Wisconsin will fuel widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday morning, with the greatest risk for heavier rain west of a line from Port Washington to Janesville. More than 1 inch of rain is possible in parts of Green, Lafayette, Sauk and Columbia counties. Southeastern Wisconsin is expected to see lighter totals as the storm system moves through more quickly. Most communities are expected to handle the rainfall, but intense bursts could produce ponding on roads and minor flooding in low-lying and urban areas. Drivers should be prepared for reduced visibility and water collecting in areas with poor drainage. Showers may continue into early Tuesday afternoon, although most of the rain is expected to end by late Tuesday morning as the cold front moves east. Temperatures should rise into the 70s Tuesday afternoon before falling into the 50s and around 60 degrees overnight as high pressure builds in from the north. The unsettled pattern is expected to continue later in the week. Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday and Thursday, particularly along and south of the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Another system could bring periodic rain and more active weather by the weekend, while daytime temperatures settle into the 60s and 70s.
