A 21-year-old Horicon resident died Saturday morning after a high-speed crash in the Town of Addison, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. A passerby called 911 at about 4:20 a.m. to report that a vehicle had struck a utility pole near the intersection of County Highway S and Fork Road. Power lines had fallen across the road, and the caller was unsure whether anyone was still inside the vehicle. Deputies who arrived at the scene determined that the vehicle’s sole occupant had died. The person was identified as a Horicon resident from Dodge County. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling east on County Highway S when it left the roadway and entered the south shoulder. It then crossed the highway, entered the north shoulder, became airborne and hit the utility pole. The initial investigation indicates that speed may have contributed to the crash. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and the county medical examiner’s office are continuing to investigate. The Hartford Police Department, St. Lawrence Fire Department and We Energies also responded to the scene.
