Portage resident held on $10,000 bond after child sexual abuse material investigation
A 30-year-old Portage man is facing 10 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material following an investigation that began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, police said. The Portage Police Department said NCMEC alerted investigators on Aug. 15 that someone in Portage had shared two files containing child sexual abuse material on two social media platforms. Police identified the suspect as Nicholas S. Lanham of Portage. Lanham was arrested earlier this week, according to police. He made his first court appearance Friday, Oct. 9, and is being held at the Columbia County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and Columbia County Probation and Parole assisted with the investigation. The charges are allegations; the available information does not state how Lanham has pleaded.
