MADISON, Wis. — A 44-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital Friday morning after a crash near the intersection of North Stoughton and Reider roads, the Madison Police Department said. Police were notified of the crash at about 8:13 a.m. A witness told investigators the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the rider lost control, hit a median and a traffic sign, and was thrown from the motorcycle. The rider was not wearing a helmet, according to police. Authorities are also investigating whether alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation was ongoing Friday. Police did not release additional information about the rider’s condition.
