Louisville police charge 79-year-old after great-grandson is shot in hand
Willie Bell was arrested Friday night in Louisville’s Shawnee neighborhood after a 28-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his hand. Police identified the two as great-grandfather and great-grandson and filed assault and wanton-endangerment charges.
A 79-year-old Louisville man was arrested Friday night after police said he shot his 28-year-old great-grandson in the hand in the Shawnee neighborhood.
Officers responded to a reported shooting in the 600 block of South 38th Street and found the younger man with a gunshot wound, according to police. He declined transport to a hospital and was treated at the scene by first responders.
After interviewing people, the department’s Domestic Violence Unit took Willie Bell into custody. He faces charges of second-degree assault involving domestic violence and wanton endangerment.
The arrest was reported Oct. 10. No further details about what led to the shooting were provided.
