Pleasure Ridge Park man indicted on murder, evidence-tampering charges in mother’s death
Braulio Sanchez Orozco, 24, was indicted in the killing of his mother, Maria Elena Sanchez Orozco, who was found with blunt-force injuries in her Louisville home in May. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
A 24-year-old man has been indicted on murder and other charges in the death of his mother, who was found inside her Pleasure Ridge Park home in May.
Braulio Sanchez Orozco faces charges including murder in a domestic-violence case, tampering with physical evidence, intimidating a participant in the legal process, tampering with a witness and abuse of a corpse, according to the information reported with the indictment.
Maria Elena Sanchez Orozco, 44, was found dead May 27 in a home in the 6900 block of Sky Blue Avenue. She had blunt-force injuries, the report said.
Braulio Sanchez Orozco told a television crew at the home on the day his mother was found that she was his mother and that he had called 911. He also said he believed her boyfriend was responsible for her death. Authorities have since charged him in the case; the charges are allegations, and an indictment is not a finding of guilt.
Court records cited in the report indicate Orozco had been held at the Adams County Correctional Center in Natchez, Mississippi, after being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The records said he was being deported from the United States. Following his indictment, he was transferred to Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
