Tropicana Avenue pole collapse left driver trapped for seven hours, lawsuit alleges
Kirstin Rachelle Parker is suing NV Energy over a July 2025 incident in which utility poles allegedly fell onto her car near South Pearl Street. Her complaint says live wires kept her trapped until power was cut roughly seven hours later.
A Clark County woman has sued NV Energy, alleging that utility poles collapsed onto her car on East Tropicana Avenue in July 2025 and left her trapped among live power lines for about seven hours.
Kirstin Rachelle Parker filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Clark County District Court against NV Energy Inc. and several unidentified defendants. The complaint says the poles began falling one after another shortly after Parker passed South Pearl Street on or about July 1, 2025.
Parker tried to accelerate away, but a pole and attached electrical cables fell onto her vehicle, according to the complaint. She could not safely get out until the power was shut off and rescuers removed her, the lawsuit says.
The suit alleges that NV Energy and its employees, contractors and agents were responsible for the design, installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of the poles and related infrastructure in the area. It claims they failed to meet their duty to maintain the equipment safely. Those claims have not been proven in court.
Parker says she received medical treatment for injuries that could be permanent and disabling. The complaint also seeks damages for alleged lost wages and earning capacity, physical impairment, mental anguish, limits on work and recreational activities, and damage to her vehicle. It says damages exceed $15,000, with some losses yet to be determined.
NV Energy had not provided a response to the allegations, and no hearing had been scheduled as of the report’s publication.
