Centennial Hills resident replaces stolen Halloween decorations for autism-focused event
A porch-camera video captured someone taking a package of Halloween decorations from Laura Haynes’ home at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday. The decorations were intended for a Trunk or Treat event for children with autism; Amazon sent a replacement at no charge.
A package of Halloween decorations intended for a Trunk or Treat event for children with autism was taken from a Centennial Hills porch Tuesday night, according to homeowner Laura Haynes, who filed an online police report the following morning.
Haynes said her doorbell camera recorded someone approaching her home and leaving with the package at 9:39 p.m. The person shown in the video had bright blue hair and wore a black shirt and gray shorts.
Haynes, who said she has lived in the neighborhood for only a few weeks, said the decorations were meant for an event at her workplace, where she works with children with autism. She wanted the gathering to be fun and safe for them, she said.
After contacting Amazon, Haynes received a replacement item at no cost. She said the incident mattered to her beyond the value of the decorations, and urged anyone who recognizes the person to report it.
Police had not provided an update on the investigation as of the report’s publication. Haynes said she filed the report online Wednesday morning.
